Internet Based Marketing

Monday, June 29th, 2009

In this article, I’ll discuss why Internet based marketing can give you a better return on your investment versus traditional, off-line marketing. Let’s start with an example.

Let’s say that you go to your local newspaper and tell them that you want to place an ad with them. While you’re there, you ask what their circulation is (their number of readers). They give you an estimate. You also ask them what their demographics are. They give you a general answer, because they don’t really know.

So you place the ad in the classified section and wait to see what happens. By the way, on your ad you put a code on your website URL so you know how many visitors you are getting from that ad, and second, with the phone number you also add a code, so you know where the calls are coming from.

You’re also going to have to be patient. Your ad will go out in the next edition. Eventually, you’ll start getting some calls and some additional traffic to your site. Compare this added interest with the cost for the advertisement. Say you got ten leads out of the ad, with the ad costing you about five dollars per visitor; this means your ad has cost you $50 in total.

Now suppose one of these leads converted into a sale. You may get some more calls of course over the next few weeks. Responses to print advertisements sometimes take a while.

Now, let’s take an Internet advertisement example by comparison. For this one, you start a pay per click campaign. With this method, you determine what keywords are relative to your service or product. You can get as targeted as you want and you can put a few keywords in a broad category, too, to see what keywords you might be missing out on when you try to snare everyone in your market.

Your ad goes live within fifteen minutes, using Google as an example. You only pay for people who click on your link and in this case you are paying $1.00 per click. Let?s say you convert at 2%. So you spend $100 to make two sales.

However in this example because of conversion tracking you can tell which keywords are converting to sales and cut out the keywords that do not convert making your ad campaign more cost efficient and effective.

In addition, because you’ve also used broader keywords, you can see how many people are finding you with this “one size fits most” method. You can also place ads on other websites with exact demographic information, which will be extremely targeted to your business.

The point is this; when it comes to online advertising, your ability to measure the performance of your advertising is far better.

By the way, pay per click is only one form of online marketing, there are many other effective marketing techniques you can use online, such as writing articles relative to your business, doing a press release, adverting in relevant online ezines and one of the most effective online marketing techniques is e-mail marketing, that is if it is done correctly.

Internet based marketing can significantly reduce your costs. It can also provide more information that lets you run more efficient and better marketing campaigns. In addition, your turnaround time is faster so that you get better information much sooner than you do with traditional venues.

This is not to tell you that it is better to focus only on plain Internet marketing. It still will do your business a lot of good if you mix traditional advertisement efforts such as traditional and new marketing media.

Here are few of the free methods that you could employ to make your products and services be in their most visible, thus saleable, form.

1. Getting your business noticed with search engine submission and optimization.

To begin with I suggest that you spend time submitting your website to as many search engines as possible, and most certainly to the top search engines. This will increase your chances of being seen by people.

2. Write better articles.

How can you improve your articles? Well obviously you have got to write them first, but then one of the most important things you can do is to ensure that you have a lot of relevant keywords placed in the body of the article. If you are stuck for keywords then do a search on Google for Keyword Tools, most of which are free.

3. Make sure you get good free content for your articles.

If you have no time to increase the SEO or search engine optimization-friendliness of your articles, you can look for free content from article directories. All you need to do is retain the resource box of those write-ups.

4. Avail yourself of free comprehensive web traffic analyzers.

These are tools that you can make use of without costing you a cent. Your website’s hits statistics will be produced by this kind of Internet marketing tool for your own analysis.

5. The design of your webpage

You don’t have to be too techie-geeky to be able to design your web site. Oftentimes, web design templates or custom-made layouts are available for the Internet marketer to use.

6. Keep a check on your website’s visibility.

Tools such as search engine position trackers may be used to see your website’s standing.

These processes are very convenient to use as long as you keep in mind that you use and try to master their use for your own benefit. Just don’t get obsessed with your achievements when you finally learn how to use them and incorporate them in your Internet marketing feat.

Free Classifieds- What Can They Do For Me?

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

With the birth of the internet the possibilities of what you can find on the World Wide Web are ever increasing. With the click of a mouse you can find many items, products and services designed to make your life easier, and essentially faster. You will also find free classifieds in the local press or in community stores; this used to be very common but is not as widespread as it used to be due to the expansion of the internet.

Free classifieds can be used for many purposes but it is very common for employment to be advertised by these means. Businesses and prospective employers are adept at using the internet to advertise for skilled staff that they need. There are several reasons why this is a popular choice; firstly, it costs less to advertise on a free classified website- it could also cost nothing at all! Also an employer can reach potential employees that are located further away by using the free classifieds. This is something that is much more effective than using advertisements in local stores, the local area papers or subscription magazines of a specialized nature. To ensure that they find the talented group or individuals they are looking for a business needs to reach as many patrons as possible; the free classified online allows them to do this.

It is also a great tool for patrons who are looking to gain employment too. Free classifieds are a fantastic way of finding that job if you are a student looking for an extra income, or a stay-at-home parent looking for flexible work whilst taking care of the family. You will find that many free classified advertisements have opportunities for people to work from their home; this could be jobs such as writing, telesales or data entry work. This kind of work is very attractive to freelancers and those wishing to have part-time work to suit their needs.

It may also be the case that you will find some agencies advertising for temporary staff or staff who can work from home in the free classifieds. There are also lots of larger businesses and well-known companies that are beginning to advertise their vacancies within the free classified advertisement sector. This is for many reasons, including the ones mentioned previously.

Searching for a job online is now a popular, fast and effective method of gaining employment. People who are looking to get some work can also advertise in the free classifieds with a view to potential employers seeing the adverts and offering them employment. Just as employers can state what vacancies they have, they can also scour the classifieds in the search for a suitable candidate.

More websites are being started up each day to enable the potential employee to search for that perfect job. There are a few online sites that will charge for their services but many will charge nothing at all for your advertisement. It may also depend on the type of advert you are placing with the website. If there is a charge you may be able to receive a discount, or businesses may find that they are charged less for putting in many adverts, or for advertising for a set amount of time.

Whichever sites you look at to place your advert, it is best to ensure that you have all the necessary information about them. Do not place an advert if you do not trust or feel uncomfortable with that particular provider.

Whether you are looking to hire staff or looking for work to suit your needs, using the free classifieds is a convenient and fast method to employ.

The Low Down on Free Classified Ads

Monday, December 29th, 2008

The Internet is the new place for placing free classified ads. The local paper does not let you run ads for free. They are good for local sales, like a car or some large piece of furniture or equipment. You can also advertise locally on the internet. If you have smaller items you can reach a larger audience. Free classified ads target the people that are already interested in the product or item, and thus conversion rate is much higher most other advertising avenues.

These classified do quite well, because they can be targeted to a specific area or even to a global one. So the word gets out to the audience that you want to get it. This can sell your product or service much faster, and it is free.

Personal ads can be listed, autos for sale, pets for sale, or anything else that you want to advertise. Many of the newspapers have online classifieds so you do get more exposure, but, for free exposure you cannot beat that. The profit is all yours. That is unless they let you advertise for free and then want a percentage of what you sell, but most do not work like that. They earn their money from the advertisers that place ads on the classified pages, like click ads.

When you decide to place a free classified ad on the Internet, do your homework and find out which ones rank highest on the search engines. You can use Alexa toolbar for this, or just do web searches as if you were looking for something on the Internet classifieds. Once you get the results make a note of the top ten results as these will be your most looked at classified ad websites. You should advertise on more than one.

This website will be hit the most as it comes up the highest in the search engine. That means a better chance that your ad will get seen by more people. Classified advertising is also targeted. People only look at the sections if they are interested in the products in that section.

Be precise in the method of payment that you require, and never send your item without payment first. PayPal and Money Orders are two methods that are good. If you accept checks make it clear that no item will be sent until the check clears. You have to protect yourself. There are people who are out to scam others just like anywhere else.

These ads can stay up from 7 to 30 days depending on the requirements of the classified ad site. Some have more restrictions than others do. Look for one that has links to local sites, and one that is high in the search rankings.

When you decide on the website that you will place your classified ad on, look into the terms of service and use. Make sure you know of any costs that they charge, and for what they are charged. Know what restrictions they have as far as what you can advertise on the website. The ads usually run between seven and thirty days, know what yours will run for. Do your due diligence so you can profit from using free classified ads.

How To Sell With Article Marketing: Hit The Goals Get The Sale

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Believe it or not no one will click on your site-link or affiliate link unless you fulfill all of the goals of an article. Make sure you achieve each goal in every article you write.

You need to achieve seven main goals to get people to click on your affiliate or website link. First people need to click on your link, then they need to buy from you. This article will outline each of the goals. Subsequent artilces will give you more details.

1. Attract Your Reader’s Attention.

There are two things to consider in attracting your prospective customer’s attention so strongly that they “just have to” read your article. First you need to settle on a topic that your reader is craving to know more about. Second you have to quickly and clearly communicate what your topic will be in the headline and first couple of sentences.

2. Get Them To Read The Whole Article.

Once you’ve got your prospect’s attention you need to keep it by saying something new. You need to say something that they didn’t know before or say it in a way that they hadn’t seen before. You need to give people a valid reason to keep reading or they will just move on without finishing. This is known as the “news value” of an article.

3. Gain Your Prospect’s Respect By The Time They Finish Reading The Article.

Start off your article with something that your reader can agree with even if you intend to say something that they would consider totally wrong without having read your article. Go Gradually. Make one solid point at a time until your have reached your surprising conclusion. Don’t just blurt out a statement that people will disagree with. They will just stop reading. When you advance your case step by credible step your reader will respect you.

4. Make It So Your Reader Feels Like You Understand Them By The Time They Finish The Article.

This concept is so basic for any salesperson but all the courses on article marketing ignore it completely. If you expect to sell anything, first you need to have a rapport with your reader. Joe Vitale addresses this in his sales letter writing course as “maintaining their trance”. In The Robert Collier Letter Book he calls it “staying in step with the conversation going on in their mind”.

5. Make Your Article Worth Spending Time On

Your prospect is spending his valuable time in reading your article. Make sure you reward him for his sacrifice. If you can provide a lot of value for the reader, they will pay you back by following your recommendation to click on the affiliate link.

6. Orient The Reader To Want To Buy The Product You Will Ultimately Recommend.

This is called pre-selling. It’s the basis of all successful article marketing. Selling is done in the sales letter. Your article isn’t the place to be selling but you can provide information and insight that helps people understand the value of the features of the product you will be selling.

7. Provide Motivation To Click On The Link In The Resource Box.

This is the simplest goal to achieve if you have successfully achieved the previous goals. All you have to do is ask them to click on the link provided. Just make sure you ask for them to take action. You always have to ask for a specific action or they won’t click on the link.

You need to write so people are predisposed to clicking and buying your product. If you follow the steps listed in this article, article marketing is more of a science than an art. You will be amazed at the results you can achieve by paying attention to these key areas.

Subsequent articles will contain great detail so you are clear on what to write to be successful.
