Lots of supermarkets and large companies will work alongside charities to push their product and try to increase the sales of the service or product. Both sides will gain in a number of ways. Pre-campaign it is necessary for all involved to conduct some kind of research. You need to make sure that it is possible for the two to work together. When a big firm is working with a charity it maybe necessary to make sure the charity can cope with all the extra donations and workload that will come their way. They need to be able to cope with the added pressure.
Both need to have an end goal that is the same. Their demographic being the same will be a good start. If they are both after the same audience then the planning between the two will work towards the same outcome that is beneficial to both organizations. If the audience is totally different then it may not be worth working together at all.
If a firm is aiming at children through its products then it would be useful to choose a partner that helps young people in some sort of way. Then they both will have the same interests at heart and they can both work together.
Both organizations have to be included in the discussions of the campaign. It is important that one firm does not have all the decision making power and the other does not. Talks will set up to see the best way forward for the both of them.
